KARACHI: A sessions court in Karachi on Friday acquitted alleged drug queenpin Anmol alias Pinky in two narcotics cases.

The first case was registered with the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in 2018 while the second case was registered at the Gizri police station in 2021.

Anmol, who had been declared a proclaimed offender in both drug cases, had filed separate applications Section 265-K (power of Court to acquit accused at any stage) of the Code of Criminal Procedure for her acquittal.

She appeared before the South additional and sessions judge via a video link at the hearing of her applications today, and the court acquitted her, citing a lack of evidence in both cases.

The court ordered her release from jail if she was not required in any other case.

Her brother, Nasir, has already been acquitted in the 2018 case.

In August, a sessions court had acquitted Anmol in three narcotics cases registered at Karachi’s Gizri police station.

Anmol’s arrest came to light in May when she appeared before a Karachi court. The arrest was made in connection with two cases, pertaining to the possession of drugs and an unlicensed weapon, registered at Karachi’s Garden police station.

The incident gained attention when a video of her being escorted to court without handcuffs went viral on social media.
