KARACHI, Feb 10: A man was shot dead in New Karachi on Sunday night.

The police said that Syed Azad Husain Zaidi, aged 50, was at his betel- leaves cabin in sector 5-E in New Karachi, when two unidentified assailants, riding a motorcycle, came at the shop, sprayed him with bullets and escaped.

He suffered multiple bullet wounds and was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

A duty officer at New Karachi police station said that so far the motive behind the killing had not been ascertained, but sectarianism could not be ruled out.

CARJACKING: Fifteen vehicles — seven cars and eight motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Sunday, the police said.

Four cars were hijacked. Three others were stolen.

Five motorcycles were hijacked. Three others were stolen.
