LAHORE: A couple and their teenage son were killed when a speeding 22-wheeler trailer ran over their car on Allama Iqbal Road, Garhi Shahu, on Thursday.

The terrible accident took place on the Allama Iqbal Road at around 12:42am, leading to instant deaths of the head of the family, Asim (42), his wife Huma (35) and his son Talha (15). The family reportedly belonged to the Shah Jamal area.

Multiple teams of the police and the emergency services rushed to the site on being alerted.

Talking about the accident, a police official said the head of the family had stopped the car at a signal while a rashly-driven 22-wheeler trailer, loaded with cement, hit the car from behind, leaving it completely damaged and killing the family members.

The police seized the trailer but could not trace and arrest its driver who had reportedly fled the scene.

Inspector General of Police Abdul Kareem took strict notice of the incident and sought a report from the CTO. He directed strict action against drivers involved in overspeeding and violations of traffic laws.
