LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Wednesday arrested two suspects in separate raids for allegedly running hundi/hawala network in Dera Ghazi Khan, seizing over Rs0.7 million from them.
As per an FIA spokesperson, the agency’s DG Khan Circle, in a raid arrested a suspect operating hundi/hawala network, recovering Rs680,000 cash, a mobile phone and record of illegal money transactions.
In another raid on a store at Pull Notak, the FIA arrested a suspect, Saim, allegedly involved in hundi/hawala business, recovering Rs25,000 cash, a mobile phone and other evidence from him.
The raids were conducted under the supervision of composite circle deputy director. Further investigation was underway.
Meanwhile, the FIA Bahawalpur Composite Circle arrested a proclaimed offender, Saeed, a resident of Lodhran district.
According to the FIA, Saeed was wanted in FIR No 160/2024, registered by the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle under Section 22-B of the Emigration Ordinance, 1979.
The agency alleged that the suspect had taken Rs195,000 from a woman on the pretext of sending her son to Dubai on an employment visa but failed to fulfil the commitment.
Further investigation was underway, the FIA said.
