KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has directed officials to work day and night on the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Yellow Line project for its timely completion.
According to an official statement, a meeting regarding the Yellow Line project was held under the chairmanship of the minister, in which Secretary Transport Asad Zamin, Project Director Yellow Line Kamal Dayo, Managing Director Sindh Mass Transit Authority Behzad Memon and other concerned officials participated.
At the meeting, various construction works, progress on the project and important sections were reviewed, while the concerned officials briefed the minister on the ongoing work on the project and various construction packages.
On this occasion, the minister directed that all relevant works on the Yellow Line project be taken forward in coordination with each other and according to a coordinated strategy.
He said the Yellow Line is an important project in Karachi’s public transport system; therefore, construction work should continue day and night so that the project aimed at providing modern travel facilities could be completed as soon as possible.
He also directed that the ongoing construction work on the second part of Taj Haider Bridge be completed as soon as possible.
The senior minister said the Sindh government was working on various projects for the provision of a modern and integrated mass transit system in Karachi.
“The Yellow Line is part of the Sindh Government’s comprehensive transport vision,” he said, adding that in view of Karachi’s increasing population and travel needs, a modern public transport system is inevitable.
He said the government is taking all necessary measures to provide better, modern and quality travel facilities to the public.
