MANSEHRA: The Upper Kohistan district administration on Wednesday directed the Communication and Works (C&W) Department to clear the Kandia Valley Road, which was blocked to all types of traffic during landslides earlier this month.
“The people of Kandia Valley have been facing difficulties while taking patients to health facilities and transporting essential goods, so the local artery connecting it with the rest of the district should immediately be restored,” Mohammad Azhar Khan, additional deputy commissioner of Upper Kohistan, said at a meeting held at his office.
The meeting was also attended by elders of Kandia Valley who apprised the participants of the problems they were facing due to the blockade of the artery.
The deputy commissioner Upper Kohistan, Azizullah Jan, had taken notice of the situation and directed the ADC to hold the meeting and ensure early restoration of the road.
The ADC told the meeting that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government wanted to provide civic services to the people and address all sorts of issues being faced by them.
The chief engineer of the C&W Department told the meeting that his department had moved machinery to the calamity-prone Kandia Valley to clear the road, which was blocked by landslides.
