RAWALPINDI: A teenage girl, who left her house to attend a seminary on Tuesday, was found tortured to death in her relative’s house on Wednesday.

According to the FIR registered by the deceased girl’s father, he resided in Dhoke Naju Pirwadhai with his wife and four children.

He said his 15-year-old girl had left her house at 1:30pm on Tuesday but did not return by sunset which caused concern among them and they started looking for her.

The family also contacted the seminary teacher who said the girl had not come to the seminary.

CCTV footage shows girl last seen with her uncle; suspect remains at large

According to the father, his daughter usually came back by 3pm but on Tuesday she did not after which they launched a search in the area and also called other family members who lived in Abbottabad.

After failing to find her, the father of the missing girl sought police help and registered a kidnapping case with Pirwadhai police.

The police checked CCTV cameras which showed that the girl was with one of her uncles who lived in the area.

The suspect had also joined the parents to look for her but after his image was seen in the CCTV footage, he disappeared from the scene. Some relatives in Abbottabad told the girl’s father to go to the suspect’s house which was found locked. After the police forced their entry into the house, they discovered the girl’s body lying there.

“The girl’s neck was broken and strangulation and torture marks were visible on her body. She seems to have been murdered before midnight,” said a police official.

The deceased girl’s father is a fruit vendor while the suspect is also a vendor.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation Saifullah toldDawnthat the medical report of the deceased girl is awaited; however, apparently it seems that she had been strangled by the suspect who remains at large.

“Police raids are underway to arrest the suspect after which the real circumstances behind the murder will become clear,” SSP Saifullah said, adding that, “it is not a blind murder and the suspect will be rounded up soon”.

When asked whether the girl was abused by the suspect, he said the police cannot say anything until the medical report confirms it.

City Police Officer (CPO) Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera has taken notice of the incident and ordered immediate arrest of the suspect. He also directed SSP Investigation Saifullah to visit the crime scene and submit a report.

Investigations are being conducted from all angles and evidence has been collected from the spot. The body has been shifted to the Holy Family Hospital (HFH) for postmortem.
