TAXILA: Two alleged members of a contract-killer and shooter gang were killed in an exchange of fire with the Crime Control Department (CCD) Attock in Hazro, said department spokesperson on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Tahir Zaman and Ejaz Ahmed Afridi, who were allegedly wanted in several murder cases and regarded by police as contract killers operating in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the spokesperson, the two suspects were killed after they came under fire from their own accomplices during the exchange. The attackers took advantage of darkness and managed to escape.

Police recovered two 30-bore pistols from the possession of the deceased, the spokesperson said.

The CCD claimed that the suspects had allegedly carried out the killing at Kamilpur Musa Malho Mor in Hazro tehsil after receiving Rs20 million.

The spokesperson said the alleged gang had previously been headed by Shah Saud alias Yar Ji, who was killed in an encounter with the CCD Attock.

A search operation was continuing in the area to trace the fleeing suspects, the spokesperson added.

The bodies of the two deceased were shifted to DHQ Hospital Attock for post-mortem. Police described the deceased as the most wanted suspect.
