Iranian oil minister quits: president's office

Iran’s oil minister Mohsen Paknejad has resigned, the president’s office says in a statement, as the country faces long queues at petrol stations due to the impact of the Middle East war, AFP reports.

“Following the acceptance of Mohsen Paknejad’s resignation, Hamid Bovard has been appointed as acting Minister of Oil by a decree from the president”, the statement, carried by state broadcaster IRIB, reads.

Bovard is the chief executive of the National Iranian Oil Company.
