MANSEHRA: The Upper Kohistan administration decided on Friday to launch a survey to assess the damage caused by recent flash floods and other natural calamities in the district.
“We have to assess the damage to houses and loss of cattle during monsoon rains across the district to ensure payment of compensation to the affected families,” deputy commissioner Azizullah Jan told a meeting.
The heads and representatives of devolved departments and the tehsil administration including the district health officer, additional deputy commissioner (revenue and relief), assistant commissioner and additional assistant commissioner of Dasu attended the meeting and presented reports on damage caused by landslides and floods during the monsoon rains in different parts of the district.
“I want comprehensive and accurate data on the total number of houses destroyed and livestock swept away by floods and landslides. The teams should visit the affected villages and localities, assess the extent of the damage and interview the affected families to document their losses,” Mr Jan said.
The deputy commissioner said no negligence would be tolerated and directed the teams comprising revenue and other departmental officials to launch the survey without delay.
Meanwhile, the Upper Kohistan district steering committee decided to launch an awareness campaign about cervical cancer.
Officials of the district health office and representatives of the Expanded Programme on Immunisation attended the meeting chaired by the deputy commissioner.
The meeting decided to organise walks and seminars to sensitise people about cervical cancer.
