BAHAWALNAGAR: Two men slit their throats over unemployment in the area on Saturday.

According to family members of Binyamin (35), a resident of Bholaywala village, near Mandi Sadiq Ganj, had been suffering from depression for about six months due to unemployment.

They claimed that he had locked himself in a room on Friday night and slit his throat with a knife. He was rushed to the Minchinabad THQ Hospital where he died due to excessive blood loss.

Meanwhile, in another incident, Allah Ditta, a former Wasa employee and father of four from the Jattu Wala area of Bahawalnagar, attempted suicide by cutting his throat over unemployment. He survived due to prompt medical care.

In his video statement, Allah Ditta claimed that Wasa officials had fired him without explanation and withheld salaries of two-and-a-half months.

Following his dismissal, his family began to starve, because of which he slid into depression and attempted to commit suicide. No Wasa official was available for comments.
