Woman axed by husband

BAHAWALPUR: Aman allegedly axed his wife to death in his house at Chak 77/F on Choonawala Road near Hasilpur, about 90kms from here.

According to Saddar Hasilpur police and Rescue 1122 officials, who rushed to the scene on receipt of an emergency call, the suspect, Mahboob Ali had strained relations with his wife Iffat Fatimah (37).

On Friday, they quarreled over a domestic issue, and Mahboob, in a fit of rage, attacked his wife with an axe. The woman suffered a head injury in the attack that proved fatal.

After killing his wife, the suspect fled the scene. The police and rescuers shifted the body to the Hasilpur Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.A murdercase was being registered against the suspect, the police say.

THREE KILLED: At least three persons, including a toddler, died in separate incidents in Bahawalpur and Ahmedpur East on Friday.

In the first incident, Maqsood Bibi (45) died when the motorcycle she was riding pillion with her husband was hit by a trailer at Almoowala Chowk, Pipli Rajan,on Jhangra Road near Ahmedpur East.

Police claimed to have arrested the trailer’s driver.

Similarly, a boy, Shoaib (12 ), died when the motorcycle he was riding with his cousin and auntie collided with a truck while overtaking another vehicle on Yazman Road at Adda-23 near Bahawalpur city. The two others were injured in the incident.

In another incident, according to Rescue 1122, a two-year-old toddler, Rizwan, drowned after accidentally falling into a water bucket in the bathroom of his houseat Baqirpur.

ELECTRIC SHOCK: A teenager was left with critical burns after suffering a massive electric shock while adjusting TV cable on the roof of his housein Muslim Town, Bahawalpur, on Friday.

According to Rescue 1122, oneArbaz (18) was adjusting the TV cable on the roof of his house with an iron rod when it accidentally touched the live electric wires dangling nearby.

As a result, he suffered a massive electric shock that left him with critical burns.

On an emergency call, a Rescue 1122 team reached the spot and shifted Arbaz to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH), where he is said to be in serious condition.
