RAWALPINDI: A 10-year-old boy was found strangled inside his makeshift hut in the New Chakra area of Naseerabad police station on Thursday night, police said.

Mohammad Bilal, 34, a resident of New Chakra, lodged an FIR with the police, saying he sold flower bouquets and lived in a makeshift tent on his piece of land.

He said he had four children, including two daughters, and his elder son, Khurram Ali, was about 10 years old. He left his house with his wife, and daughters to earn a living in Saddar Bazaar on Thursday afternoon, leaving his elder son Khurram at the hut.

He added that he received an emergency call at about 7pm asking him to reach home immediately. He reached there at about 8pm and found his elder son Khurram lying dead on a bed inside the makeshift hut.

In the FIR, he said his brothers-in-law told him that they were passing close to his hut when they noticed a suspect coming out of it. The suspect allegedly ran away upon seeing them.

He said his brothers-in-law then walked into the hut and found Khurram Ali hanging by a piece of cloth tied to a piece of wood.

They untied him and laid him on a charpai, according to the FIR.

“The motive behind the murder was preventing the suspect from passing through his plot”, he said in the FIR.

Later, the body was handed over to the family after the postmortem, police said, adding that the accused had also been apprehended and an investigation was launched.
