CLINICAL TRAINING

CLINICAL TRAINING: Nursing students receive extensive theoretical education, but are deprived of adequate practical opportunities in clinical wards. Students are mainly asked to perform limited tasks, such as giving injections, while important skills, such as patient assessment and history-taking, are often neglected. Sometimes students are not even given proper assignments during clinical rotations. This creates a major gap between theory and real patient care. The authorities concerned, nursing colleges and hospitals must work together to improve clinical training. Students should receive regular hands-on practice under qualified clinical instructors. They must be allowed to perform nursing procedures so that they may build confidence.

PETROL RELIEF: When the govern-ment announced petrol subsidy for owners of motorcycles and auto-rickshaws, the poor felt relieved, but their happiness vanished into thin air when they came to know that the scheme did not cover vehicles registered before a certain year. I am unable to understand the reason behind this restriction. I own a bike that was registered before that cut-off. I have a private job with a salary of around Rs45,000. Why am I not eligible to get this relief? The government should clarify.

DEMOCRACY OR KAKISTOCRACY: A healthy democracy should empower citizens through effective institutions and equal opportunities. Many people view the situation in Sindh as an example of kakistocracy, where poor governance and lack of accountability together undermine progress. Government neglect has affected nearly every aspect of life, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, employment and public services. Despite the province’s vast resources, many rural communities continue to struggle. Roads, schools, hospitals and clean water facilities remain inadequate for the population. For Sindh to prosper, stronger accountability and transparency are essential.
