Anew academic year, after the first few months, gradually starts to feel the same — studies, tests and homework. You may have moved to a higher grade, but somehow you find yourself doing the same activities and following almost the same routine.

The excitement of reading new books or making new friends slowly fades as you find yourself struggling to comprehend new and slightly harder topics and concepts. So, it becomes quite natural to feel that being in the previous class was more fun or that the subjects you studied last year were relatively easier.

With that, you may even begin to feel nostalgic, thinking of all the previous year’s experiences and, in particular, missing the teachers who made your learning joyful. And then comes that moment when you are lurking in the hallways, hoping to peek into your last year’s classroom or simply catch a glimpse of your favourite teacher who sadly doesn’t teach you this term.

One question that many of you may have is whether that teacher still remembers you. And if you are no longer part of her classroom, would she still consider you her favourite student?

So, first, let me assure you all that moving on to a new class doesn’t make your teacher forget you. While they may have taught you for, let’s say, only a year, you have made a place in their heart forever. Just as you admire them for helping you learn and improve, they appreciate the respect and affection you show them. So even if you are not studying with them this year, they will remain your teachers who will always cheer for you!

Every classroom has its own characters, from the super-smart students and backbenchers to the gossipers and class entertainers. Read on to find out which one sounds most like you!

Now, just as there are many types of teachers depending on their character traits and teaching styles — the strict ones, the friendly ones and the motivating ones — there are different types of students too. So, today we will be looking at some of the types of students found in a class.

Let’s find out which type of student you are.

Every teacher’s favourite

Students of this type are adored by all the teachers. Even the strict ones can’t help admiring them for their good behaviour. These students prefer to be in every teacher’s good books and would never misbehave or disrespect their teachers.

It won’t be surprising to see them happily taking on the role of class representatives and offering to do anything that needs to be done. They are sometimes teased by their friends for being the teacher’s pet.

The Einsteins

There are always a bunch of very smart students in every class, and the moment the teacher asks a question, they raise their hands to answer.

Their curiosity and hard work make them stand out from the rest of their classmates. They are also among the first to confidently submit their assignments and score the highest marks in tests. Oftentimes, many of their classmates get jealous of them.

The gossipers

Then there are a few students who constantly talk in class. No amount of glaring, scolding or caution from their teachers can put a stop to their non-stop chattering. They have news to share about everyone and everything!

Because of this habit, they often miss their teachers’ instructions and then find themselves getting into trouble.

The silent ones

This type is also very common. While a teacher may struggle to make the talkative ones quiet, on the other hand, you may see them urging a few students to speak up and participate in class discussions.

These students often shy away from all forms of interaction. And the only time a teacher may hear them speak is when their names are called during attendance!

The backbenchers

Despite a teacher’s countless attempts to change their seating arrangement, some students prefer sitting at the back all the time. They choose to sit in the last rows with their best friends, where they can be less visible to the teacher and work, or play, at their own pace.

The supporters

You must have seen how some friends cover up for each other all the time; well, this is how the supporters in a class behave. Whenever they see their buddies getting into hot water, they come up with explanations and clarifications, requesting their teachers to pardon them and give their friends another chance!

The entertainers

You may have noticed that there are some students who are famous for being the class clowns. They make funny comments or share jokes in class, making the whole class roar with laughter.

Because of their light and fun nature, they not only draw attention to themselves, but also disrupt the class environment. In some teachers’ books, they are known as mischief-makers.

So, no matter which type of student you are, your presence matters! Whether it is your humour that makes your teacher smile or your curiosity that makes class discussions meaningful, your teachers will always be there to help you shine like a star!
