Austrian jazz ensemble enthrals audience

KARACHI: The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, in collaboration with the Embassy of Austria, hosted a captivating musical evening featuring an Austrian jazz ensemble at Studio II.

The programme was attended by a large number of jazz enthusiasts and formed part of the World Culture Festival Karachi 2026 series, said a press release issued on Thursday.

Renowned Austrian musicians Robert Pawlik and Michaela Rabitsch delivered an engaging performance, showcasing their musical artistry and bringing a distinctive Austrian jazz experience to Karachi.

The ensemble was also joined by Waqas Gulab and Zeeshan Pervaiz, who performed alongside the Austrian musicians.

Among the distinguished guests were Dr Jörg Martin Schumacher, Director, Goethe-Institut Pakistan Karachi; the consuls general of Japan, Korea and Italy.

During the performance, guitarist Robert Pawlik and trumpeter Michaela Rabitsch demonstrated their exceptional command of jazz, captivating the audience with a selection of evocative melodies.

The performance was warmly received, with music lovers responding with enthusiastic applause throughout the evening.

Speaking on the occasion, Arts Council President Ahmed Shah said, “Today, we had the opportunity to listen to Austrian jazz musicians. I warmly welcome the Austrian artists, the diplomats present here and all the participants.”

He announced that the third edition of the World Culture Festival would commence at the Arts Council from Oct 29, bringing together musicians, actors, dancers and visual artists from around the world.

He said the month-long festival would offer the people of Karachi an opportunity to experience a diverse range of international cultures and artistic traditions under one roof.
