GUJAR KHAN: A bogie of the Quetta-bound Jaffar Express derailed ahead of the Gujar Khan railway station on Thursday, while another train had derailed near Kharian a day earlier.

In the latest incident near Gujar Khan, no casualty occurred but the traffic at the main track between Rawalpindi and Lahore remained suspended.

A visit to the area showed that the derailed wheels of the last bogie had damaged the binding sleepers of the track.

Asad Mahmood, permanent works inspector, said the brakes of the bogie had developed faults and after crossing Mandra station the driver aired a message for immediate repair.

Mr Asad said after a stride of eight km at Ghungrila station the fault was attended by a technician and four km ahead the bogie got derailed and the dismantled brakes and other equipment could be seen scattered at different points on the track.

Sohail Jawaid, divisional engineer Rawalpindi, said after separating the derailed bogie the rest of the train continued its journey.
