Bus, seven bikes burnt in bike battery blast

TOBA TEK SINGH: A bus and seven motorcycles were completely gutted by fire in the parking area of Government College University for Women Faisalabad (GCUWF) on Wednesday.

A University spokesperson and Rescue 1122 officials said an electric scooty was being charged under the parking shed when its battery exploded and scooty caught fire which engulfed the bus and seven bikes.

Fire was extinguished by university staff and Rescue 1122 firefighters. No one was hurt in the fire.

INJURED: A man was critically injured in firing during a village panchayat held at the outhouse of former MPA Chaudhry Noor Ahmad Mahi at Chak 284-GB on Tuesday night.

Rajana police said the panchayat was discussing an alleged mobile phone theft when two parties exchanged harsh words. During the altercation, Faisal Mahuta of Chak 364-GB allegedly opened fire on Sahir Ahmad, 35, the nephew of the former MPA.

Sahir sustained critical injuries and was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Toba Tek Singh, for treatment.

Police said raids were being conducted to arrest the suspect.
