KARACHI: Two brothers were killed over a trivial issue in Shershah on Wednesday, police said.

They added that Mohammed Kareem, 30, and his brother, Mohammed Azeem, 36, were shot dead while Javed Niazi, 40, was wounded during a personal dispute near Gulbai Chowk.

Keamari SSP (Investigation) Shah Jehan Khan told Dawn that, during the initial probe, it transpired that the victims and the suspects were residents of the same area. He said one of the suspects was a relative of the victims, while the other was the area watchman.

SSP Khan said a quarrel erupted between the victims and the suspects over some men sitting at the baithak of the watchman, namely Asif. The plot was owned by a man named Mubeen.

The SSP said that, after heated arguments, both the watchman and the owner of the plot resorted to firing, resulting in the double murder. He said the victims had also recently asked the owner and watchman of the plot not to allow men to sit there, which had also triggered a quarrel between them.

The suspects managed to escape from the spot. The bodies and the wounded were shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi.
