Newly elected office-bearers of ICCI sworn in

ISLAMABAD: The newly elected office-bearers and Executive Committee members of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) formally assumed their responsibilities after taking the oath at the 42nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) held here on Wednesday.

Mohammad Zikria Akbar Zia took oath as president, while Mohammad Ashfaq Hussain Chatah assumed the office of senior vice president and Mohammad Waqas Khan as vice president.

The oath was administered by Chairman, ICCI Founder Group, Sheikh Tariq Sadiq. Former ICCI President Mohammad Ejaz Abbasi served as master of ceremonies. The meeting was attended by a large number of ICCI members, reflecting the strong engagement of the business community with the chamber.

Addressing the ceremony, the newly elected president said that his foremost priority would be to effectively represent the business community and pursue practical advocacy for resolving issues confronting businesses.

He said the chamber would continue to engage with relevant government institutions to promote an environment conducive to investment, trade and entrepreneurship, with the broader objective of contributing to sustainable economic growth in Islamabad and the country.

The newly elected president also expressed his gratitude to the ICCI Founder Group and the chamber’s members for placing their confidence in him and said he would strive to live up to their expectations.

He paid tribute to the outgoing leadership for its contributions and said that the new team would build on the work already undertaken, while introducing further initiatives aimed at strengthening the chamber’s role as an effective voice of the business community.

The elected senior vice president and vice president also addressed the gathering and reaffirmed their commitment to working collectively with the president and the executive committee for the promotion and protection of the interests of the business community.

Outgoing President Sardar Tahir Mehmood congratulated the newly elected office-bearers and expressed confidence that the new leadership would further strengthen ICCI’s role in serving the business community.
