ISLAMABAD, July 26: The draft amendments to Hudood laws will be tabled in the National Assembly when it meets on Aug 4, informed sources told Dawn on Tuesday.

They said the amendments were finalised at a Monday meeting chaired by President Gen Pervez Musharraf. The meeting was also attended by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, PML president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, secretary-general Mushahid Hussain Syed, Sharifuddin Pirzada, attorney-general of Pakistan, ministers for information and law and other high ranking officials.

Prime Minister Aziz had invited opposition leader Maulana Fazlur Rahman to the meeting but he had declined.

Law Minister Chaudhry Wasi Zafar will table the bill in the NA which will stand referred to the house standing committee on law.
