RAWALPINDI: An FIA Anti-Human Trafficking team faced strong resistance from the accused, including a former nazim, during a raid in Rawalpindi, leaving two members of the raiding party injured.

The complainant claimed that the team members were also held hostage by the accused, who threatened the FIA team.

Fahad Iqbal, inspector of the FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Cell, Rawalpindi, registered an FIR with Civil Lines police on Sunday, stating that the FIA team conducted a raid to arrest an accused at his residence in the Rawalpindi area on September 14.

He said the accused, along with his companions, not only resisted the team but also held Fahad Iqbal, inspector, ASI Ghazala Shaheen and FC Aqib Mehmood hostage and hit them with sticks and rods, besides punching them, resulting in serious injuries to the staff. He added that the female staff member was also humiliated.

He further alleged that the accused persons threatened to kill the FIA team while pointing and aiming rifles and pistols at them, causing further fear. He said in the FIR that the accused attempted to murder the FIA team.

The FIA inspector said in the FIR that a case should be registered against all the accused and they should be brought to justice. After the medical examination, a case was registered against the accused under relevant sections of the law.
