NAROWAL: Three-day ceremonies to mark the 487th death anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak have commenced at Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur.

Thousands of Sikh pilgrims from across the globe, including Pakistan, will participate in the three-day rituals. A large number of Sikh pilgrims from Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan, and other parts of the world have started arriving at the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib to attend the ceremonies.

Sikh pilgrims including men, women, and children are paying their respects by offering chadars (ceremonial coverings) and bowing their heads in reverence at the Samadhi and grave of Baba Guru Nanak.

Extensive arrangements for accommodation and meals have been made for the pilgrims at the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib. Medical camps, Rescue 1122 teams, and other support units are on duty to facilitate the pilgrims. Foolproof security arrangements have also been put in place to ensure their safety. The entry of unauthorised persons into the Gurdwara has been prohibited. Gurdwara Darbar Sahib and Kartarpur city are also being monitored via CCTV cameras.

The pilgrims will take out a Nagar Kirtan procession from the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib to the Pakistan-India border today and they will perform religious rituals in accordance with tradition.
