KARACHI: MIT Solutions and Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) were forced to follow on by Kingsmen Academy and Pakistan Television (PTV), respectively, as bowlers dominated the third day of the opening round of the President’s Trophy Grade-I on Monday.

At Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, left-arm pacer Akif Javed claimed his maiden first-class five-wicket haul, finishing with six for 79 as Kingsmen Academy dismissed MIT Solutions for 330.

Akif, who bowled 18.5 overs, removed first-innings centurion Mohammad Farooq, who had scored 117, as MIT lost their last seven wickets for 151 runs after resuming at 179-3.

Following on, MIT reached 203-5 at stumps, with Mohammad Farooq scoring 67 off 67 balls. They still trail by 32 runs.

Kingsmen had earlier declared at 565-7, with Pakistan batter Salman Ali Agha unbeaten on 300.

At Diamond Cricket Ground in Islamabad, fast bowler Haris Rauf returned figures of five for 34 as PTV dismissed OGDCL for 204 to secure a 196-run first-innings lead.

Haris, who claimed his third first-class five-wicket haul, was well supported by left-arm wrist-spinner Faisal Akram, who took four for 51.

OGDCL, following on, were 64-3 at stumps, still 132 runs behind. Saad Khan was unbeaten on 42.

At Imran Khan Cricket Stadium in Peshawar, KRL chose not to enforce the follow-on after dismissing Ghani for 306.

Wicket-keeper-batter Haseebullah fell one run short of his fifth first-class century, scoring 99 off 121 balls before being bowled by Iftikhar Ahmed. Ali Razzaq made 52.

Shaheen Shah Afridi, returning to domestic red-ball cricket, took four for 61, while Iftikhar Ahmed and Arshad Iqbal claimed two wickets each.

KRL were 164-1 in their second innings at stumps, leading by 405. Fakhar Zaman and Shahzaib Khan were both unbeaten on 76 after putting together a 149-run stand.

At the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi, SBP fought back strongly against SNGPL, bowling them out for 188 after Kashif Bhatti took six for 40.

SBP, who had been dismissed for 158 in their first innings, reached 190-1 by stumps. Hasan Raza scored 103, his eighth first-class century, while Faham-ul-Haq was unbeaten on 78, giving SBP a 160-run lead.
