LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Saturday granted post-arrest bail to Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf social media activist Falak Javed in a case of alleged attack on Islamabad police team outside Zaman Park residence of former prime minister Imran Khan.

Judge Malik Abid Hussain allowed bail application of the activist and directed her to furnish surety bonds worth Rs100,000.

The prosecution produced the case record before the court while the suspect’s counsel completed his arguments on the bail petition.

The defence counsel argued that Ms Javed was a woman and had a legal right to be released on bail.

He said the investigation had been completed and there was no justification for keeping her behind bars.

Opposing the bail plea, a state counsel alleged that the suspect was involved in an attack on Islamabad police officials outside Zaman Park. He claimed that a petrol bomb had also been recovered from her during the investigation.

According to the prosecution, Islamabad police had gone to the residence of PTI founding chairman Imran Khan to serve summons. The prosecution alleged that enraged party workers hurled petrol bombs at the police and injured several officers.

Racecourse police had registered FIR No. 410/2023 in connection with the alleged attack on police.

BAIL:An anti-terrorism court on Saturday extended pre-arrest bail of PTI founding chairman Imran Khan’s sisters – Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan – and other party leaders in multiple cases of violence including May 9 riots.

Both sisters, former federal ministers Asad Umar, Azam Swati and Fawad Chaudhry appeared before the court on expiry of their bail period. The court extended the bail till Oct 6.
