ISLAMABAD: Supported by global price hike windfall, the state-run Oil and Gas Development Company Ltd (OGDCL) on Friday announced a record Rs242.4 billion profit for 2025-26, up 43 per cent over the previous year.
The company’s profit after tax (PAT) in the first nine months (July to March) of FY26 (mostly pre-US-Iran war) amounted to Rs115bn, compared with Rs130bn in the comparable period in FY25, a 12pc decline. The global price surge following the US-Israel attack on Iran, however, yielded about Rs128bn post-tax profit, more than the combined profit in the first three quarters. This was the highest profit in a quarter.
This windfall pushed PAT to Rs242.4bn in FY26, up from Rs169bn a year earlier. OGDCL also marked the first major discovery of high-grade lithium in geothermal brine in Khairpur District of Sindh during the fiscal year. The company’s board of directors approved the financial results for the year with net sales revenue of Rs449.191bn.
The earnings per share (EPS) increased to Rs56.35 from Rs39.50 in FY25. The board declared a final cash dividend of Rs6.00 per share, the company said in a statement.
This is in addition to interim dividends of Rs11 per share already paid, taking the total payout for FY26 to Rs17, the highest-ever annual dividend declared by the company.
During the year, the company contributed Rs187bn to the national exchequer through corporate tax, dividends, royalties and other government levies. Its oil and gas production also generated an estimated $3.31bn in foreign exchange savings through import substitution.
