CHARSADDA: The Charsadda tehsil municipal administration (TMA) on Friday sealed 10 housing schemes that were operating without legal approvals. The municipal authority has served notices on a total of 32 housing schemes for lacking required legal approvals.

On the directives of deputy commissioner Fazal Rahim Marwat, assistant additional commissioner Nida Shams, along with a TMA team, inspected several sites and sealed 10 housing schemes, colonies, townships and plotting sites found to be operating without the required approvals.

The administration said the legal status and relevant records of the sites were examined during the inspections.

The officials were directed to initiate legal proceedings against the schemes found to be operating in violation of the applicable rules.

Urges citizens to avoid investing in unapproved societies

An official list also contains the names of people associated with the schemes.

The administration, however, has not announced any finding of criminal liability against the individuals named in the list, and the legal status of each property would be subject to the relevant record and proceedings before the competent authorities.

The administration also urged citizens to verify the approval status and legal documentation of a housing scheme with the relevant authorities before purchasing a plot, warning that investment in unapproved schemes could expose buyers to financial and legal risks.

OFFICIAL SENT HOME: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has sent the chief medical officer (CMO) of the District Headquarters Hospital, Charsadda, on compulsory retirement over alleged irregular appointments.

According to a notification issued by the health department here on Friday, an inquiry had been initiated against Dr Kachkol Khan, a BS-20 general cadre officer, on Aug 15, 2024.

The inquiry had found him guilty of misconduct over alleged irregular appointments during his tenure as district health officer in Mardan.

The inquiry related to alleged illegal appointments of officials in various categories at the office of the DHO Mardan and adjustment of their salaries against posts meant for lady health workers (LHWs).

He was also accused of hiring a private testing agency instead of the government-authorised Educational Testing and Evaluation Agency, without obtaining approval from the competent authority.

The notification said the charges against the officer were proved during the inquiry and the inquiry committee recommended the major penalty of compulsory retirement from service under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 2011.

Afterwards, a show-cause notice was served on Dr Khan on Oct 6, 2025, and he was subsequently given an opportunity for a personal hearing on Feb 17, 2026, by the secretary of the public health engineering department on behalf of the competent authority.

The personal hearing officer concluded that the charges had been proved and found Dr Khan guilty of misconduct.

The recommendation for imposition of the major penalty was subsequently confirmed by the chief minister.
