LAHORE, July 22: Three-year-old colts Harry Can View, Fidel Castro and Bright Star will measure each other's strides in an effort to bag top honours in the feature event during the day and night Lahore Summer Meeting at the Racecourse on Sunday.

The feature and the sixth race, the Sohawa Plate class IV division I and II to be run over a sprinting distance of 1100 metres will have seven runners barring last-minute withdrawals. It looks an open affair as all the three colts have won two races each previously.

On current form Harry Can View is being favoured. He will be on the trot to make amends for his defeat last Sunday. He was beaten by Zargar on July 16 over 1000 metres.

The handicap favours Fidel Castro, who is placed at seven stones nine pounds and will be seen in action after three weeks absence.

Discovery, Druree and Ferrari are the pick of the seven drawn for the supporting and fifth race, Sohawa Plate class IV division III over 1100 metres.

Discovery with two back-to-back victories to her credit will be going all out to complete a hat trick. Her main rival could be Ferrari.

This is interesting to note that Discovery and Ferrari are the progenies of Cisco Wells, who was the son of a prolific English sire Sadler's Wells and half brother to Epsom Derby winner, the mighty Galileo.

If everything goes his way, the speedy Safe And Sound should win the fourth race, Gujrat Plate class V division I, to be contested over 900 metres.

Daisy Against All, Wendy Trace and Rang Dey Basanti may fight for the lesser remunerative positions.

The third race, a class V division II handicap race has a big field of 18 contestants, if there are no last-minute withdrawals. Of them four are prominent, namely, Golden Goal, First Passion, Arabian Sea and Jewna.

On current form Golden Goal and First Passion should fight it out.

Simoom, Tallal The Great and, Dogar Gift attract attention in the second race, Gujranwala Plate class VII division I over 900 metres.

Right in form and fresh from her victory last Sunday, the three-year-old filly Simoom should make it two in a row for owner Syed Parvaiz Hussain Shah and trainer Sohail Aziz.

Royal Palace, Dam Dama Dam and Wah Cisco Wah are prominent runners among the ten drawn for the opener. They should fight it out.

Strangely enough Wah Cisco Wah is also a progeny of Cisco Wells but has not won a single race yet to prove his breeding quality.

A card of six races will be gone through with four events to be contested over 900 metres and two over 1100 metres.

The first race will start at 5.30pm.
