KARACHI: Elaborate security arrangements have been made for rallies in connection with the 12th Rabiul Awwal on Wednesday (today) under the direction of Additional IGP Karachi Azad Khan, said a police spokesperson.
A total of 4,208 policemen would be deployed to secure the Milad rallies and gatherings in the metropolis. Giving a break-up of district-wise deployment, the official statement said that in South Zone, 1702 policemen would be deployed while in East Zone, 765 policemen would be deployed.
The police spokesperson said that 397 police officers/personnel would be deployed for security of the main venue of the 12th Rabiul Awwal procession at Nishtar Park while 362 policemen would be deployed at entry points of the park.
The metropolis police chief has directed the police to remain on full alert on routes of all processions while the traffic police would ensure smooth flow of traffic. He also issued directions to the police for effective monitoring of the security situation through CCTV cameras. Karachi police are taking every possible step for the protection of life and property of the citizens and maintaining a peaceful atmosphere, the statement added.
