MUZAFFARABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) police have claimed to have arrested a man for allegedly shooting dead his British-national uncle at his residence in Mirpur last week.

According to a press release issued by Mirpur SSP Khurram Iqbal, Dilpazir, a British citizen, was found dead in a room of his house in Nomahal Nakka on Aug 19. Police said the victim’s brother, Aurangzeb, had reported the incident to city police, stating that he had been informed by a local resident that his brother had been shot dead.

When Aurangzeb reached the house with other family members, Dilpazir was found lying on the floor in a pool of blood, according to the police.

A case was registered at City police station under sections 302 and 452 of the Azad Penal Code against unidentified assailants. Police said Dilpazir had returned from England to his ancestral home about one and a half months before the incident.
