LAHORE: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) on Monday arrested a suspected cyber blackmailer from Rahim Yar Khan for allegedly threatening women with the online release of their private information and manipulated photographs unless they paid him money.

According to the NCCIA, the suspect, identified as Muhammad Salman, gained unauthorised access to the private data and photographs of women while he was working abroad. After returning to Pakistan, he allegedly used fabricated ‘objectionable’ images of foreign women to blackmail them and demand money, the agency said.

The suspect threatened to upload the images and personal information of the victims on social media and send the material to their family members if they refused to meet his demands.

The NCCIA said it had taken into custody private and objectionable material recovered from the suspect’s mobile phone and registered a case against him.
