Policeman kills murder suspect in Mardan

MARDAN: A police official allegedly killed a detained murder suspect in the office of SP investigations here on Wednesday, police sources said.

The sources said that the slain, identified as Mashal, had allegedly killed a brother of the accused police official, Imran, who served as a reader at the office of the DSP traffic.

The accused was also arrested from the spot. The sources said Mashal had allegedly shot dead Imran’s brother a day earlier.

Following the incident, Mashal was arrested and detained at the Saddar police station, while an investigation into the murder case was underway.

According to reports, Mashal was later brought to the SP Investigation’s office, where Imran allegedly opened fire on him in the presence of policemen, resulting in his death.

As soon as the incident was reported, Mardan District Police Officer Masood Ahmad and other senior officers reached the scene.

The DPO suspended three police officers who were present at the scene.

According to police, evidence was being collected and an investigation launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting in the presence of police officers.
