KARACHI: The Motor Club of Pakistan conducted its consecutive 11th Freedom Drive to celebrate country’s 79th Independence Day.
The main objective of the Freedom Drive each year is to develop and strengthen nationalism and patriotism in the nation, especially in its youth, so they may play a vital role in its progress.
The Freedom Drive started at 9:30am from Frere Hall with classic and exquisite cars including Mercedes Benz 1965, SL-600 R129 1996, 126 560 SEC 1987, W126 280 SE and 60 SEC coupe 1987, Porsche Carrera 4, MG TD 1935, Rolls Royce Silver Spirit 1981, MG Boat Tail 1932, Chevrolet Caprice Classic 1987, Willys Jeep, Toyota MR2, Toyota Toreno coupe 1978, Mazda, VW bettle convertible, Peugeot 404, and Jaguar XJ6 series-1 1972 in national flag green colour all headed to the Mazar-i-Quaid via Metropole Sharea Faisal.
With each car flying the national flag with pride, the drive successfully concluded at 10:30am.
On the occasion, Motor Club of Pakistan President Razi Nayyer said that the biggest achievement of Pakistan this year is the historic Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, which is a great step for the unity and safety of the Muslim countries.
Ceremony at Sindh PA
The Sindh Assembly marked Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day on Friday with a special session and a dignified flag-hoisting ceremony, underscoring themes of inclusion, youth participation and national unity.
Speaker Syed Awais Qadir Shah presided over the ceremony and hoisted the national flag to the tune of the national anthem, followed by special prayers for the country’s safety, progress and prosperity.
Governor Nehal Hashmi, Deputy Speaker Anthony Naveed, Minister of State for Religious Affairs Kheal Das Kohistani, and MPAs from treasury and opposition benches, including women and minority members, attended the event.
The proceedings began with recitation of the Holy Quran. In his address, the speaker congratulated the nation and said that the day reaffirmed the commitment to the vision of the Founder of Pakistan.
A resolution commemorating the 79th Independence Day was moved by MPA Jameel Ahmed Soomro, who also spoke in support of it.
