SARGODHA: A 12-year-old child was seriously injured when a hand grenade exploded near the child when he was bathing in the River Chenab.
According to police, Naeem Raza (12) was bathing in the river with his friends near Talib Wala Pattan when he touched a hand grenade in the water which exploded upon contact.
The injured child was shifted to the hospital for medical attention, while the bomb disposal squad also reached the spot. The hand grenade is suspected to have come from India with the flow of water.
Investigation into the hand grenade explosion is underway from various aspects, police sources said.
MURDER: The body of a man was found near the canal bridge in Jhawarian area of Sargodha.
The deceased, identified as Muhammad Qadeer, was reportedly visiting his in-laws living in the area to bring back his angry wife, who had been staying with her parents for the past three months.
Police registered a case against a nominated suspect, Riyasat Ali, and his two unknown accomplices and investigations were underway.
ACCIDENT: A young man was killed and three people were seriously injured in separate traffic accidents in Sargodha on Friday.
In one accident, one Niaz Ahmed (25) died while his 22-year-old companion was injured in a motorcycle and truck collision near Chak 38 NB on 3 Pula Road in Sargodha city.
In another accident, Dr Rabia Zulqarnain (38) and her driver Sher Dil (40) were injured and two children remained safe when their car overturned near Sahiwal town on Sargodha-Jhang Road.
They were reportedly travelling to Khushab from Multan. The injured were shifted to the hospital and police were investigating.
