DERA GHAZI KHAN: A severe windstorm, accompanied by heavy rain, lashed Rajanpur on Wednesday, causing widespread damage across the district.

Rescue 1122 sources told Dawn that powerful winds uprooted trees, knocked down electricity transformers, and dislodged solar panels, affecting many urban areas.

Fortunately, no loss of life has been reported, though authorities confirm significant financial losses to public and private property.

The windstorm severely disrupted power and internet services throughout the region, compounding difficulties for the residents.

In response, Rescue 1122 teams were immediately deployed in the affected locations.

Emergency crews have been working to remove fallen trees and damaged transformers from roadways to restore traffic flow and prevent further hazards.

Relief and clearance operations are ongoing at multiple sites across the district.

All rescue and relief efforts are being supervised by District Emergency Officer Dr Muhammad Aslam, who confirmed that teams remain alert and are coordinating with other departments to speed up restoration work.

Authorities have urged people to stay indoors and report any emergencies through the 1122 helpline.

Deputy Commissioner Imran Ranjha said Rajanpur received just 18mm rain, but the windstorm caused a massive damage in a sphere of one and a half kilometers, where buildings of the DHQ hospital, and Rescue 1122 are located.

He said that only a minor boy was injured in a wall collapsed incident, who is said to be stable in his house.

He said restoration of electricity will take some more time, while traffic has been restored in the the affected areas.
