SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: A jirga was held to help resolve a land dispute between the members of Desikhel and Karmazkhel tribes in Karb Kot area here on Tuesday.

Lower South Waziristan deputy commissioner Musarrat Zaman and district police officer Shah Hassan jointly chaired the jirga. DSP Wana Headquarters Asghar Ali Shah and elders of both tribes also attended.

During the jirga, elders from both sides presented their respective point of view regarding the dispute before the district administration and police authorities. The participants discussed the background of the dispute and highlighted the issues that flared up tensions between the two sides.

The district administration and police officials listened to the elders of both tribes and urged them to resolve the dispute through mutual consultation to avoid confrontation.

The officials stressed the importance of maintaining peace and avoiding any action that could further escalate tensions in the area.

They urged the tribal elders to play their role in defusing tensions and helping the two sides reach an acceptable and peaceful settlement in accordance with local traditions and established procedures.

The jirga was attended by Malik Rafiq, Malik Darya Khan and Malik Bungal Khan from the Desikhel tribe, while Malik Musa Jan, Malik Ikram, Malik Jan Mohammad and Malik Badshah Khan represented the Karmazkhel tribe. It was decided that another jirga would be held on August 21 to review progress.
