KARACHI, July 19: Police arrested an activist of a banned extremist group in connection with the suicide attack that killed Allama Hassan Turabi last week, police said on Wednesday.

Arshad Khan, belonging to the proscribed Lashkar-i-Jhangvi, was captured on Tuesday in a raid in Hyderabad, officials said. A Kalashnikov rifle and a hand-grenade were also found.

“We are interrogating him to know whether he has links or involvement in the killing of Hassan Turabi,” Mazhar Mashwani, an investigator in the crime investigation department, told AFP.
