KARACHI, July 19: As many as 86 people were looted of their cars, motorbikes or cellphones in various localities here on Wednesday.
Fifty-six people were deprived of the cellphones at different places. The bandits took 22 people at gunpoint in various areas in the metropolis and snatched their mobile phones and cash of thousands of rupees. However, 34 people reported that their mobile phones were stolen by unknown persons, the police sources said.
Thirty vehicles were taken away by bandits in various areas. Five cars were snatched at gunpoint and nine others stolen. Similarly, eight motorbikes were snatched at gunpoint and an equal number of motorcycles was stolen.
BODY FOUND: The bodies of two men were found at separate places.
The body of a man was found near the beach off Korangi creek in Ibrahim Hyderi. The body was sent to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy where the man was identified as Fareed Alam, 35, a fisherman and a resident of Ali Akbar Shah Goth. He was shot multiple bullets.
Police suspected a wanted criminal Alam Dakait behind the murder as there were some indications that Fareed had a quarrel with Alam Dakait. Police are looking for the suspect.
Another body of a man was found with his throat slit near Sindh Government Hospital in New Karachi. The body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was identified as Nadeem Haroon, 35, resident of Liaquatabad. Police said Nadeem was a former employee of a bank and had opted for golden handshake. He recently separated with his wife.
