HYDERABAD, July 19: A young mother of two appealed on Wednesday to the president, prime minister, governor, chief minister, IGP and chief justices to protect her and her husband from a union council nazim who she alleged was threatening to drag her into a ‘jirga’ if she did not leave her husband.

Ms Naghma, daughter of Abdul Shakoor Rajput and wife of Altaf Hussain Sargani, told a news conference at the Hyderabad Press Club that the nazim of union council Mohabbat Dero Jatoi, Naushahro Feroze district who was also a landlord was making advances towards her with immoral intentions.

Ms Naghma who also lives in Mohabbat Dero Jatoi said that she had married of her own free will with Altaf in a court three years ago and had a son and a daughter from him.

She alleged that the nazim had threatened to kill them if they did not separate. He had sent them a massage forcing them to attend a ‘jirga’ which he (nazim) warned would keep her infant daughter as penalty for the marriage.

She appealed to the federal and provincial authorities and superior judiciary to prevent the nazim from holding the jirga.

Ms Naghma’s husband Altaf Hussain Sargani was also present at the press conference.
