One dies, six missing as rickshaw falls into canal

DERA GHAZI KHAN: A tragic accident occurred near Sheikhu Sugar Mills in Sinawan, close to Kot Addu, when a loader-rickshaw carrying wedding guests drove into the Muzaffargarh Canal.

The incident resulted in the death of a child, while six other individuals were missing. The accident sparked panic and distress.

According to rescue sources, local residents managed to pull three children out of the canal shortly after the incident.

Rescue teams administered CPR to one child on the spot and provided first aid to other two.

All three children were subsequently transferred to the Rural Health Centre in Sinawan where a doctor confirmed that one of them had succumbed to his injuries.

Rescue officials further stated that around six more people are believed to have drowned and could not be traced. A search and rescue operation is currently underway, with four rescue vehicles actively engaged in efforts to locate the missing individuals.

He said apparently the rickshaw driver couldn’t maintain balance.
