TAXILA: At least seven people, including two women, were killed and eight others injured in separate incidents in Attock district, police and Rescue 1122 sources said on Sunday.
In the first incident, a man shot dead his wife and injured his sister and mother-in-law before taking his own life in the Manwarabad area in the limits of Hazro Police Station.
Police, while quoting the family, have said that 23-year-old Ehsanullah’s relations with his 22-year-old wife, Beenish Bibi, were strained over domestic issues.
On Sunday, his mother-in-law, Gull Meena, 40, came to her house to settle the dispute between the couple; however, during an altercation, he ‘took out his pistol and shot his wife dead’.
As his sister, Hajra Bibi, 19, and mother-in-law came to rescue her, the suspect also shot and injured them. Seeing three of his family members in a bloodbath, the man shot himself dead.
Moreover, a minor and his mother were killed and six others injured when a speedy passenger van recklessly driven by an unknown driver rammed into a car from its rear on the Rawalpindi-Kohat road near the Jand railway crossing.
The dead were identified as four-year-old Abubakar and his mother on board the passenger van. Later, rescue teams shifted the injured and dead to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Jand.
Moreover, the tortured body of a three-year-old boy was found in a graveyard in Ghourghushti village within the limits of the Hazro police station. The police sources said that some passersby spotted a body wrapped in a bedsheet and informed police.
Later, police shifted the body to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Hazro.
The preliminary examination revealed torture marks on the body of the minor boy.
Police investigators believed that the minor was killed somewhere else and attempted to bury the body to conceal the crime.
Separately, a teenage boy was gunned down in a daylight target killing incident in Sattar Chowk within the limits of Attock Police Station.
Police sources said that 19-year-old Uzair Khan was going towards his house when a masked man intercepted him and shot him in the head and fled away from the crime scene successfully. Police sources said that the victim was a native of KP and had fallen victim to some old enmity.
Moreover, a motorcyclist was knocked to death by a speedy dumper near Golra village chowk on Attock-Sanjwal road within the limits of the same police station.
Police sources said that 38-year-old Iftikhar was going on his motorcycle when a speedy dumper, recklessly driven by an unknown driver, knocked him; as a result, he died on the spot. The respective police registered separate cases and launched further investigation.
