LAHORE: A judicial magistrate on Saturday extended the physical remand of an assistant sub-inspector (ASI), for further four days in a case of alleged rape of a mentally disabled girl at the Ghaziabad police station.

The police produced suspect Imran before the magistrate at Cantonment Courts on completion of his previous physical remand, and sought his further custody to complete the investigation.

After examining the record, the magistrate allowed the request and extended the physical remand of the ASI for four days.

The magistrate also directed the investigating officer to submit a progress report on the next hearing upon the expiry of the remand.

Ghaziabad police had registered a case against the ASI on the complaint of the victim’s father.

The SHO and all police officials posted at Ghaziabad station were also suspended by the authority.
