BANNU: A Special Branch constable was martyred when unidentified armed assailants opened fire on him in Masoomabad area along Bannu-Miramshah Road.

According to police, on Thursday morning, constable Noor Alam Khan was on his way for duty when unknown attackers targeted him. As a result, he embraced martyrdom on the spot.

DPO Bannu, Captain (Retd) Muhammad Furqan Bilal visited the crime scene where he inspected the site and received a briefing from police officers regarding the incident. The DPO directed the officials concerned to utilise all available resources for immediate arrest of those involved in the attack.

He also ordered collection of evidence and expedited investigation from all possible angles. The police said that the area had been cordoned off and a search operation was underway, while different teams were conducting raids to trace and arrest the attackers.

The DPO said that sacrifice of martyred constable Noor Alam would not go in vain and that those responsible for this cowardly act would be brought to justice at the earliest.

Meanwhile, funeral prayers of martyred constable was offered at the police lines. Senior police officials and personnel, family members of the constable and people from different walks of life attended the funeral prayers.
