GUJRANWALA, July 18: Five members of a family, including two minors, were killed when the roof of their house collapsed in Sikanderpura locality of Wazirabad on Tuesday.

Reports said Bushra along with her two children Ahmed, 3, and Momana, 1, came to her parents’ house to see her sisters Sidra and Shama from Vinjowali village. They were asleep on the roof-top when it caved in as a result of which they were buried alive.

People of the area and police officers reached the spot and recovered bodies from the rubble.

GENERAL HOLDUP: The range police claimed on Tuesday to have arrested 42 notorious proclaimed offenders and 39 court absconders during five-hour long general holdup and recovered a huge quantity of illicit arms and narcotics from their possession. This was stated by DIG Malik Muhammad Iqbal in a briefing here.

He said the police recovered 12 rifles, 59 pistols, nine revolvers, 17 guns, four carbins and 635 rounds, besides 2.84kg charas and four stolen motorcycles from their possession.

He said 72 motorcycles, a car and five wagons were taken into custody under Section 550 for investigation.

Meanwhile, District Police Officer Mian Muhammad Asif assured the business community that close circuit cameras would be installed at important chowks and bazaars in the city.
