PESHAWAR, July 18: District Nazim Peshawar Haji Ghulam Ali has expressed the resolve to restore the glory of Peshawar by carrying out development projects. “It is my desire to make Peshawar a beautiful city of the country as it was in the past,” said the district nazim while talking to newsmen during a surprise visit to the historic Qissa Khawani bazaar to inspect quality of construction work on footpaths.

He said for the first time in the history of the province, marble tiles were being used for construction of footpaths. A decision in this regard was taken in view of the Qissa Khawani bazaar being a hub of commercial activity in the city.

He said the plan to construct footpaths was part of the project approved by Chief Minister Akram Durrani concerning the projection of Qissa Khawani road to GT road via Chowk Yadgar and Ashraf road. The estimated cost of the project was Rs13 million, he said, adding that the project would be completed in a month and the chief minister would be asked to inaugurate it.

Haji Ghulam Ali thanked the chief minister for taking keen interest in the development of district Peshawar as well as for releasing funds for the purpose well in time. If chief minister’s cooperation continued like this, the citizens of Peshawar would witness a revolutionary change in the city, he added.—APP
