PESHAWAR: Over 2,600 police and Federal Constabulary (FC) personnel have embraced martyrdom since 1970 across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with 386 deaths reported in the provincial capital alone, the highest number of casualties in any district.
According to statistics shared by the Central Police Office, Bannu district recorded the second highest number of deaths at 265.
The statistics showed that 249 personnel were martyred in Dera Ismail Khan over this period, followed by 118 in Mardan, 115 in Swat, and 75 in Kohat. Eighty-eight personnel embraced martyrdom in Charsadda, 66 in Swabi, 96 in Lakki Marwat, 59 in Nowshera, 31 in Mansehra, 62 in Hangu, 65 in Lower Dir, 62 in Tank, 39 in Buner, 31 in Shangla, 42 in Khyber, 37 in Upper Dir, 26 in Upper South Waziristan and five in Lower South Waziristan.
Thirty personnel embraced martyrdom in Karak, 38 in North Waziristan, 16 in Abbottabad, 14 in Haripur, 52 in Bajaur, five in Upper Chitral, nine each in Lower Chitral and Torghar, eight each in Mohmand and Battagram, two in Kohistan and nine in Orakzai.

The martyred personnel include 134 cops from the Elite Force, 240 from Frontier Reserve Police, 22 from Telecommunication and Transport, while two are from the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, KP.
Another document issued by the police department said that 246 personnel, including 147 from Federal Constabulary,53 police head constables, 24 assistant sub-inspectors, 16 sub-inspectors, three inspectors, two deputy superintendents of police, and an assistant superintendent of police, embraced martyrdom between 1970 and 2000.
The document said that 2,413 police personnel, including two additional inspectors general, two DIGs, an SSP, six SPs, 22 DSPs, 51 inspectors, 146 sub-inspectors, 133 assistant sub-inspectors, 293 head constables and 1,766 FC personnel embraced martyrdom between 2000 to 2026.
During the same period [2000-2026], the highest figure was reported in 2025 when 235 personnel, including 159 FC personnel, 51 police head constables, 15 assistant sub-inspectors, six sub-inspectors, four inspectors, and a DSP, embraced martyrdom.
The data showed that 17 personnel embraced martyrdom each in 2001 and 2002, 26 in 2003, 24 in 2004, 13 in 2005, 27 in 2006, 101 in 2007, 172 in 2008, 211 in 2009, 108 in 2010, 154 in 2011, 106 in 2012, 135 in 2013, 111 in 2014, 61 in 2015, 74 in 2016, 36 in 2017.
Similarly, 31 embraced martyrdom in 2018, 42 in 2019, 40 in 2020, 63 in 2021, 93 in 2022, 197 in 2023, 169 in 2024, 235 in 2025, while 150 personnel embraced martyrdom till July 2, 2026.
