KASUR: Mustafabad police station former in charge (SHO) and six other policemen escaped from sessions court in Lahore after rejection of their pre-arrest bail plea in a case pertaining to the death of a man in a “fake encounter” in 2024.

As per police sources, ex-SHO Hassan Imran and his six subordinates were booked a few days back by the the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on the complaint of the family of the victim, Rizwan.

As per the complainant family, Rizwan was allegedly picked by a team of Mustafabad police, implicated in fake cases and later killed in a “staged encounter” in 2024.

After Rizwan’s killing, the suspects claimed that Rizwan was wanted in several cases and was allegedly killed by his own accomplices during an “encounter”.

The victim’s family approached the FIA with a complaint against the suspects.

However, on Wednesday, the suspects fled the district and sessions court after rejection of their pre-arrest bail plea to avoid arrest.

As per the police, Kasur District Police Officer Aftab Phularwan has formed teams for the arrest of seven fleeing policemen.

Kasur police had suspended the suspects from service after they were nominated in the FIR.

‘Poisonous food’ kills sisters

A young girl and her minor sister died, while their parents were hospitalised in serious condition, allegedly after the family consumed poisonous food on Wednesday at Kot Arjun Singh village.

According to Chunian police, Shahida Bibi, wife of Mahmood Ahmed, cooked food in her house on Monday night, that was consumed by the couple and their two daughters -- Amara (20) and Tahreem (13).

After consuming the food, all the family members fell sick.

As their condition worsened, their relatives tried to shift them to Chunia Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, but both Amara and Tahreem died on the way.

Meanwhile, Ahmed and Shahida were rushed to the THQ hospital, where doctors referred them to a Lahore hospital, given their serious condition.

On being informed, a police team visited the victims’ house and took the food samples that were sent to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) lab for analysis. The lab report is awaited, the police say.
