KARACHI: A visiting US business delegation on Wednesday expressed interest in investing in Sindh’s renewable energy projects, AI and data centres, export-oriented manufacturing and other sectors.

At a meeting with Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah at CM House, the delegation comprising US business leaders, investors and representatives of the Special Investment Facilitation Council, agreed to maintain close coordination with the provincial government to identify bankable projects and develop partnerships leading to investments, job creation and technology transfer.

According to a press statement issued by CM House, the US businessmen said that Sindh’s public-private partnership framework, policy continuity and direct engagement with investors provided a strong foundation for long-term partnerships.

Vice President Operations Maheen Shamsi, TSI Engineering Inc President Maqsood Kamboh, Insure123 Founder Zain Jeewanjee, ValVik GTC CEO Patrick Eibl, American Pakistan Advocacy Group President Ali Rashid and Pakistan American Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce President Naveed Anwar attended the meeting.

Provincial ministers, chief secretary Asif Hyder Shah and Mayor of Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab were also present.

The chief minister invited American investors to become long-term partners in the province’s economic transformation, assuring them of a transparent, predictable and business-friendly environment.

Special Assistant to the CM on Investment Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar gave a detailed presentation on province’s economic strengths, investment-ready projects and successful PPP models.

The chief minister said that the province contributed around 25 per cent of Pakistan’s GDP and hosts the country’s largest commercial and industrial centres, making it the natural gateway to regional and international markets.

He said that the province possesses enormous potential in renewable energy, technology and advanced manufacturing, mentioning Thar coal reserves, significant wind and solar resources, an extensive coastline and connectivity through Karachi Port and Port Qasim.

The chief minister highlighted several initiatives, including the proposed Keti Bandar Integrated Industrial and Maritime Hub, the Sindh International Financial Centre, green energy-powered data centres and AI infrastructure, industrial and technology zones, wastewater treatment facilities, desalination projects and coastal tourism developments.

The US delegation was briefed on investment opportunities in industrial parks, Dhabeji Special Economic Zone, aquaculture and seafood exports, green digital infrastructure, health services, tourism resorts, wastewater treatment, desalination and renewable energy-powered data centres.
