ISLAMABAD, July 17: World Muslim Congress (WMC) on Monday appealed to the UN, OIC and Arab League to take immediate and practical steps to stop Israel’s aggression which, it said, looked premeditated.

In a letter to the UN, OIC and Arab League secretaries general, Raja Zafarul Haq of WMC said: “The escalating violence in the Middle East is a cause of extreme concern for all those who wanted a peaceful settlement of the Middle East problem by granting Palestinian territories status of a sovereign entity.”

He regretted that the United Nations Security Council, the UN General Assembly, the Organisation of Islamic Conference and the Arab League had not been able to bridle the aggressor.

This will also have very serious long-term effects in the minds of groups and individuals who would lose all hope in any of the international organisations in stopping use of force, aggression and bloodshed against innocent people.

He further said the escalation of violence could continue negating all hopes of international peace and the curbing of terrorism at the state as well as individual level.
