LAHORE: A delegation from the National Workshop Balochistan visited Wapda House here on Tuesday.

It received a briefing on Pakistan’s water, food, and energy security, water dynamics, effects of climate change, implications of weaponisation of water by India and contributions of Wapda towards national development.

Wapda Chairman retired Lt Gen Muhammad Saeed briefed the delegates on Diamer-Bhasha Dam, Mohmand Dam, Dasu Hydropower Project and Tarbela 5th Extension, which would add approximately 10MAF to water storage and 10,000MW of clean and affordable hydel electricity to the national grid.

He further highlighted the challenges to water security of Pakistan due to climate change and India’s unilateral holding of the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance.
